Gone are the days..

Transitioning from a child to a married lady has been such a journey, not only in terms of maturity but seeing the attitude of people around me change drastically. To describe a standard da y of my life when I was in my 10th class, all set to give the board exams, my day would start with me getting up at 6 am in the morning, studying all the time. In between , when i felt hungry, I would just give out a call to my mom, 'Mummy bhookh lagi hai'. That was it, just saying this would raise a chef in my mom who would start cooking some delicious dishes for me, which were thoroughly fried(yumm...I still remember the smell) and present to me the world's tastiest dish ever(no competition to mom's cooking). Well, if you see the emotion, it was so sweet of her to do that, so that I am pleased enough to keep studying and not say that Mom I am tired , or I don't feel like studying. She would try her best by cooking all these dishes to make me keep studying happily. Now to look ...

My Best Friend!

I have always felt like writing this. Somehow the last time I started, that's like two years back , I ended up in a system crash resulting in the whole blog getting deleted, before I could actually post it. Now that I start again , I am keeping my fingers crossed for any such mishap. Mishappening......should I use this word or the curse of luck?Well whatever it is , it does leave out a huge void in everyone's life. The same happened to me a few years back. Lets go back a few years, to the day I entered the college. Totally terrified, as I had always been under the protective cover of my parents,I entered the hostel in Amritsar. It was such a terrifying feeling- smallest room in the whole world, and guess what, three people in that room. Basically, to explain, if one person is standing in the room, noone else can actually stand or do anything. While I was still in this shock , I was introduced to my roommate-Bela. Well the first impression was nothing, since i was not in a state o...

Mota ya Patla....

Image
' Yaar mein pehle se moti ho gayi hun? '. People who know me would often find me asking this question. Why only me, most of my friends/brothers and sisters are pretty conscious about their weight nowadays.I guess thats the trend now, thats the 'in' look.If we see the movies in 60's 70's, the ' in ' look was definately a curvascious body, which primarily meant too much of butt size. I remember one of my friend telling me that the heroines like Leena Chandrawarkar used to put artificial butts inside, though I am not sure how much true was that, n sounds a bit weird:-P.Well, the times have changed, heroines have gone thinner and heros are looking more fit nowadays. But the point here lies that it has made the life of normal people like us full of suffering and sacrifices.Suffering because now the benchmark of  'motapa'  has descreased to as low as my husband calling even Katrina Kaif plump(dontt telll meee!!!!! *shock- I totally find her skinny, sa...

Aur Bata!!

We have often heard this word- 'Takiyakalam' . What does this actually mean? Well I looked upon the same on wiki and this is what it exactly says: A takiyakalam (various spellings . e.g. takia kalaam) is a Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu word or phrase used to describe a word, expression or phrase that a person frequently uses in conversation, often at the end of a sentence, and invariably without really thinking about it. How true is the definition of this word.To tell you the truth I am totally in love with the phrase ... 'Aur bata' . It has such a significance in lives of us Indians. We just keep using it so regularly that it has become a part of us, and without just realizing ,it does help us a lot in so many situations. The other day I called up my friend in general to catch up on whats going on. I had a word with her last week as well so wasnt really sure on what new will be there to talk about , but just to keep in touch I had to give her a call.So I called her up , we exchan...

Happy International Women's Day- 2016

Image
When a kid is born, the innocent eyes see the world as an equal opportunity world. The kid doesn't know whether he/she is a boy or a girl. Then the society starts discriminating and automatically the thought process is invoked on what a girl should be doing and what a boy should be doing? Who is to be blamed? Society? Well yes, you can spend your life blaming society for everything you understand and see, whether it was your mother working at home( and office, in some cases) or your father being pretentious of being in a job, OR you be a grown up kid understanding your likes and dislikes, your right and wrong and follow what your heart says. It’s never the men who stop women from rising in their careers, it’s never the society as well that does it,  but the inhibitions that women carry as a result of the society pressures they have seen all their lives. Who needs to be blamed? Nobody, it’s the women themselves. Yes, it might take an effort, it might destroy the peace at home,...

Keep Going, Dont Let Anyone Pull You Back!

Image
My dear friends, please don’t let anyone come and tell you what you are worthy of and what you are not worthy of. You are the one and only one in this whole world, who knows your potential. The reality is in front of you. There are million things that you want to do, but just because of some people round you, you keep quiet. There are some basic things you need to keep in mind to be successful in life and at work: 1. There is no shortcut to hard work: Though it’s a cliché and there are many people who will argue this against smart work, there really is ‘NO’ shortcut to hard work. It’s just important to understand that hard work along with smart work can take you places, though given choice, be smart and select hard work. Sooner or Later, this will surely pay off. Though, purely smart work will have a beginners luck but will fade away in the end. 2. "Life is not designed to give us what we need; life is designed to give us what we deserve." - Mostly, people, as they gain...

Happy International Womens Day!!

Every once in a while, we all have been the victims of societal norms or the inhibitions we have created in our minds subconsciously due to societal standards we saw since we were little girls. Not only is it important to realize that some part of us has accepted the inequality in our day to day lives but also to break those. So starting today, when someone labels you aggressive, keep being assertive. When someone labels you bossy, keep being a leader. When someone labels you awkward, keep asking those difficult  questions. You have come a long way my beautiful. But theres more to cover. There are more norms to break and more lines to be crossed. Be proud of where you are and keep the ambitious light in your eyes shining, so that everyone sees your determination. You are awesome in every way! I wish you all a very happy women’s day and truly wish that you keep rising and shining and don't let anyone, including you, stop you. Also, reason you are here today, also means ther...
